Running (and eventually killing) the hospital’s podcast
Hands on Health was a passion project for an employee of the Hospital that left nearly 8 months before I was even hired. A co-worker and I were left to keep it going and so I made new album art and began helping as the audio engineer and co-host with my coworker. This was always a fun project but, ultimately, the direction of the podcast seemed aimless and there really was no audience for the type of content we were allowed to make for the show. My coworker and I had proposed a few different directions for the show to increase viewership by making it into something that would have more broad appeal, but ultimately, the Hospital didn’t need it, so my coworker and I decided it was time to sunset the podcast. It can be hard to cut something when you enjoy making it, but we also knew that it felt like a waste of time continuing to create content that didn’t have an audience.
That said, I’m proud of the sound wave I crafted for the YouTube episodes. That was a bit of After Effects magic that I really enjoyed making.
